After my Adeline got this goofy hat for Christmas from her Grandpa, I couldn’t wait to take her outside for some photos in it…
The girl can r o c k a hat!
So when we got a light dusting of snow a couple weeks ago, we dashed outside for a super-quicky-10 minute session.
Despite all her quirks and stubborn demeanor, one of the the best things she has ever given me is cooperation in front of the camera.
And I think she’s come to truly enjoy our photo time together almost as much as I do. She’s relaxed and natural, and she really allows me to
capture her personality. She takes direction incredibly well (though she needs very little), and she has an amazing ability to peer through the
camera and straight into your soul.
I love my goofy girl. And I hope she’s always able live life as fully and happily as she does right now!
And it wouldn’t be a shoot with my Adeline without at least one drama shot… this girl.
2012 was an amazing year!
For my little family it meant, our first home (and all of the other wonderful firsts that come with home ownership), a new amazing neighborhood and the
new friends we’ve made in our new neighbors, and a fantastic new school for the kids (it’s something really special)!
My son is potty training, my daughter learned to read, my husband got a new job which gives him more “family time”, and Little Giant Photography
is happily growing. Old friends have gotten married and had babies, and I’ve made many new friends in colleagues and contacts.
And, this time last year I was just launching this blog, which I’ve enjoyed so much!
In the coming weeks I hope to post some personal work here, before sessions start back up… be on the lookout for loads of photos of my babies.
Of course not all years are this great, but I’m hoping for many, many more!
Thank you to our family and our friends, old and new, and to all of my clients and followers who’ve made 2012 so great.

I can barely imagine what it will be like when my children are older, and how they’ll interact with each other as they grow.
I absolutely adore witnessing the love that they have for each other already and I can only hope they grow to be great friends over time.
The S Family was the perfect example of this… not only do these folks get along, but they seem to truly enjoy each other.
This family was a riot to work with, and we had a blast at our recent evening session. Even in their “uncooperative” moments (all kids have them), these 3 little
blondies were kind, caring and helpful towards each other.
I saw so much love and friendship there that night, and that’s what Family is all about.
Baby Sheldon decided that he needed to cook an extra week or so before the world welcomed him.
And welcomed he was.
I went to his family’s home to capture their new life together. Sheldon’s big sister Esther introduced me to her baby (the doll), and her baby (the brother)
and showed me what sweet and caring big sister she already is… and what a little ham she’s turned into since her newborn session nearly 2 years ago.
Life with 2 babies is a whole different story, and it’s a lot more work for Mom Dad, but this family seems to have adjusted to their new life seamlessly.
I always tell people that my favorite part of parenthood is seeing the love my children have for each other, how it changes and grows… and how it some
days seems to not exist at all 🙂
But it is always a gift, and one that these parents deserve. I’m so happy for them and can’t wait to see them all grow together.
This girl… my Adeline,
came as a surprise, is a ball of fire, LOVES elephants, has many irrational fears, drives me bananas, is compassionate and caring, makes friends wherever she
goes, makes me laugh, makes me cry, always fits in, can argue anything until she’s blue in the face, is learning how to be a wonderful big sister, is SO intelligent,
sings like a little bird, puts ranch dressing on everything she eats, lights up the room, is way more articulate than any child should be, is rarely graceful, but
always a genuine character, amazes me constantly, makes every day a struggle… and a gift, is growing up WAY too fast, has changed everything.
She is six years old, and so loved.
I’m a pretty lucky gal to make a living doing what I do.
People invite me into their homes and their lives to capture and then retell their stories… it’s magical and I love it!
And every so often I’m invited to do this for the people in my life.
I’ve know Andy for over a decade and have always loved him to pieces. And I feel so lucky to say that his lady, Cortney, has become one of my
great girlfriends over the past few years.
They are good through and through, with only warmth and creativity to spread to those around them.
Three years ago they brought Abraham into the world (on my birthday!) and now they’ve graced us all with Vivian. She is dainty and lovely,
and hopefully one day, will have as many gorgeous freckles as her beautiful mommy.
I love this family, and I love retelling this chapter of their story.
These little ladies are my favorite out-of-town clients.
Mom schedules a session whenever the girls swing through Milwaukee, but this time we decided to try something different. I had Grandma, Grandpa and the girls meet me at the Milwaukee County Zoo for a morning of fun. While chasing these little wild ones around was tiring for the grown-ups, I think it’s safe to say that the girls had much more fun than at one of their typical sessions with me.
Big sis Flannery is rarely still or quiet (and wanted to hold my hand the whole time we walked the Zoo), while baby sis Rowan is suddenly so much bigger and livelier than the last time I saw her (she was little enough to sleep through most of our session). But middle sis Delaney stole the show this time. She gave me so many sweet moments, what a precious and cooperative little ham!
Lucky for me this family will soon be moving only one state away… hopefully we’ll see even more of each other.
The camels had a baby!
And there were even some piggies at the zoo. 🙂
I met Isabelle and her parents last May as she was turning 2 years old.
Over the past year she has gotten much taller, her hair has gotten much bigger, and she is certainly growing more and more beautiful all the time…
She is a spirited little girl, the only way to be in my opinion, and absolutely stunning.
If you remember her story, you know that she was a safe haven baby… lucky enough to be given prenatal care by her birth mother, and immediately fostered and shortly after adopted by parents.
I found their story inspiring. I love the fact that Isabelle was one of so many babies given up or abandoned, who happened to fall so easily into a life filled with love.
It seems to me their cup is full, what a lovely family.
Isabelle greeted me at the door with a hug (the best), wearing mom’s heels (even better!)
Then we headed out for a little nature walk.
When the sun wore us out we headed back inside for some playroom fun, where she insisted on listening to Rhianna… hilarious!
I totally LOVE the look she gives mom here… moments like these are the rewards we get for all the hard work we put in as parents.
And, as is my trend lately… I finished off the session with a favorite shot.
Six months is my FAVORITE baby age to photograph! And this session is the perfect example of why.
It’s the age of roly-poly legs, bright eyes, and beaming expressions.
Simply put, pure adorable.
I was lucky enough to photography Lilly with her parents while they recently visited from Georgia. Lilly was all smiles, and I think she was as entertained by me and my camera as I was entertained by her gorgeous grin. Her family is obviously enamored with her, and justly so.
I may need to relocate to Georgia so I can photograph her more often!
